[N]'s 1814 CAMPAIGN RULES

COMMAND & ASSIGNMENT

Coalition - All [N] officers of the rank of General or above will be assigned to the Coalition armies. The officers of the Coalition forces may serve in any Region with any allowable faction for any game at any time depending on the orders and the discretion of the ranking commander of the Coalition forces at the time of the battle. Command decisions will be made by the ranking commander of the Coalition who happens to be present and available for battle.

French - All officers of the rank of Colonel or lower will be assigned to the French armies. Unlike the Coalition armies, French officers will only serve in the army they are initially assigned to (see Officer Assignments). Command decisions for each specific French army will be made by the ranking commander assigned to that army. The French commander will be the absolute authority of his army. The French army commander will decide who will participate and who will command in any and all battles his army participates in. A French army commander must decide the nature of officer participation within his army. For example he may allow any officer to participate in any battle at any random time without permissions, or he may assign specific officers to specific battlefields with specific duties. In his absence he may wish to delegate command or leave standing orders.

Battle Initiation - Any ranking Coalition officer may initiate any battle. Any French army commander or a French officer acting under the orders of his commanding officer may initiate a battle. To initiate a battle the ranking officers of both sides must verify the next Battlefield by checking the forum for the latest battle results, then simply agree on the number of players for the battle and follow the rules for Deployment and Battlefields.

DEPLOYMENT

The Campaign Map is divided into 3 Regions: the Rhine, Italy , and Spain . One French and one Coalition army is assigned to each one of these regions. In addition an attachment faction is assigned to each Coalition. The Coalition team must have one and only one officer command the attachment faction listed for that Region.

The Rhine... France-Army of the Rhine.....Coalition-Prussia/Sweden
Italy.......... France-Army of Italy...........Coalition-Austria/Russia
Spain......... France-Army of Spain..........Coalition-Britain/Portugal

Each Region is divided into 3 Battlefields: Paris, The Countryside, and The Border. The Battlefields are arraigned in a linear fashion so the next Battlefield will depend on the outcome of the present battle (see Scenario Example chart). The first battle of the campaign in all regions takes place on The Countryside Battlefield. Subsequent Battlefields are determined by the result of the present battle:

* Coalition victories in The Countryside move the next battle to the Paris Battlefield.
* Coalition victories in Paris destroy that Region’s French army, and that Region’s Coalition Army must then "siege Paris ” and wait in reserve for the resolution of the other 2 Region’s campaigns.
* Coalition victories in The Border move the next battle to The Countryside.
* French victories in The Countryside move the next battle to The Border.
* French victories in The Border destroy that Region’s Coalition ending all further battles in that Region and that Region’s French army will then return to “lift the siege of Paris ” and wait in reserve until the other Region’s campaigns are resolved.
* French victories in Paris move the next battle to The Countryside.

Siege of Paris : If all 3 Region’s campaigns are completed and victory is not yet determined then the siege of Paris is resolved as follows:

* If 2 French armies are victorious in their regions then those French army commanders must decide together which of their armies will be the first to “redeploy” to the victorious Coalition’s Region and repeat that campaign until one army is destroyed. Should the Coalition win then the final surviving French army would redeploy to that same victorious Coalition's Region and complete the final campaign.

* If 2 Coalition armies are victorious in their Regions then the French army commander must decide which region he will redeploy his army to first and repeat that Region's campaign and if victorious go on to redeploy in the final Coalition’s region and repeat that campaign.

* The first battle after redeployment of a French army is on the Paris Battlefield.

BATTLEFIELDS & MAPS

The Battlefield Attacker will host or take the host's deployment side.
* Attacking and defending sides are always determined by the Battlefield:

Paris - Coalition Attacks
The Countryside - Coalition Attacks
The Border - France Attacks

* Each Battlefield of each Region is assigned a specific map:

Regions-----> Paris---------The Countryside-------The Border
The Rhine.......Friedland........Grassy Flatlands.........Prussian Hills
Italy..............Friedland........British Countryside.....Italian Grassland
Spain.............Friedland........Galicia Ria................Salamanca

BATTLE RULES:

* Battles can be 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 depending on the players available and at the discretion of the commanders involved.
* A maximum of 2 artillery (straight shooters) per player is allowed and divided among the team as desired; for example each team is allowed 6 artillery in a 3v3 battle.
* Howitzers, unicorns, and fixed artillery are forbidden.
* "General Sniping" with artillery is allowed however it is highly discouraged thus ending all complaints and accusations about General Sniping . No officer should be so incompetent as to have their General exposed to artillery fire and on the same note no officer should be so incompetent as to need to snipe the opponents General to gain advantage.

DEFEATED ARMIES:

*Any army that was defeated in it's last battle will incur a penalty of -1000 florins per player in it's next battle. Should a defeated army be victorious the penalty is removed and essentially transferred to the defeated opponent.

VICTORY

* Victory is achieved after all opposing armies are destroyed

POSTING:

* Immediately after each battle the ranking officer of the victorious side must insure the results are posted in the 1814 CAMPAIGN: OFFICIAL REPORTS topic. He may then go on to participate in another battle.
* Battle reports are highly encouraged (see 1814 CAMPAIGN: BATTLE REPORTS).
